Abroad Jobs ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Abroad Jobs mobile application and website located at https://emps.co.in (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy describes our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.
We use your data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Job Seeker Account Information
When you register as a job seeker, we collect:
- Account Details: Full name, email address, mobile number, password (stored encrypted)
- Profile Information: Professional experience, education history, skills, languages, job preferences
- Documents: Resume/CV files (PDF, DOC, DOCX, image formats) uploaded for job applications
- Job Preferences: Desired job categories, salary expectations (in INR), preferred locations
- Profile Photo: Images you explicitly select via the system photo picker
1.2 Recruiter Account Information
When you register as a recruiter, we additionally collect:
- Personal Details: Full name, work email, mobile number, designation
- Company Information: Company name, website URL, industry, company size, headquarters location, company description
- Verification Documents: Company license or registration certificate (PDF or image) uploaded for account verification
- Job Postings: Job titles, descriptions, salary ranges (in INR), requirements, and job images you upload
1.3 Payment and Subscription Data
If you subscribe to a premium plan (job seeker or recruiter), we collect:
- Subscription Status: Your active plan, billing cycle, and renewal date
- Transaction Records: Payment intent IDs, invoice IDs, and transaction timestamps
- Billing Contact: Email address used for invoice delivery
Card Data: We do not store your card number, CVV, or full card details. All payment card data is handled directly by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. See Section 6 (Third-Party Services) for details.
1.4 Device and Technical Data
When you use our mobile app, we automatically collect:
- FCM Token: Your device's Firebase Cloud Messaging token, used exclusively to deliver push notifications to your device
- Device Information: Device type and operating system version (collected by Firebase SDK)
- App Usage Data: Log data, crash reports, and feature usage analytics to improve the app
- Network State: Whether you are connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data (used to optimise data loading)
1.5 Contact Information (Optional)
Our app requests optional access to your device's contact list for the following purposes:
- Professional Networking: Recruiters can sync professional contacts to build their network within the platform
- Job Referrals: To facilitate job referrals between users
- Contact Matching: To help you find professional connections who also use our platform
This permission is optional. Contact data is used solely for the purposes above, is not sold or shared with third parties, and you can revoke access at any time through your device settings.
1.6 Photo and File Selection
Our app uses the Android system document and photo picker for all file selections. This means:
- You explicitly choose which files or photos to share with our app
- We only receive the specific file you select — not your entire library
- On Android 13 and above, no broad media permissions are required
- On older Android versions, limited storage access may be requested solely to enable file selection
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your job seeker or recruiter account
- To match job seekers with relevant job opportunities
- To enable recruiters to find and review suitable candidates
- To process subscription payments and deliver invoices to your email
- To send push notifications for job alerts, application updates, and platform announcements
- To verify recruiter company credentials and maintain platform integrity
- To facilitate professional networking and job referrals
- To provide customer support and respond to enquiries
- To improve our Service through analytics and usage data
- To detect and prevent fraud and unauthorised access
- To comply with legal obligations under applicable Indian law
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With Employers/Recruiters: When you apply for a job, your profile and resume are shared with the recruiting company
- With Job Seekers: Recruiter profiles and company information are visible to job seekers on the platform
- With Payment Processors: We share necessary transaction data with Stripe to process subscription payments (see Section 6)
- With Firebase/Google: Device tokens and crash data are processed by Firebase (Google) to deliver push notifications and app analytics
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition, your data may be transferred to the successor entity
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Data Retention
- Account Data: Retained while your account is active and for up to 2 years after account deletion request
- Job Application Data: Retained for 3 years for record-keeping and dispute resolution
- Payment Records: Retained for 7 years to comply with financial and tax regulations
- Uploaded Documents (Resumes, Licenses): Retained while your account is active; deleted within 90 days of account deletion
- FCM Tokens: Updated on each app launch; invalidated when you uninstall the app or revoke notification permission
- Contact Data: Retained only while contact sync is enabled; deleted when you disable the feature or delete your account
- Log Data: Retained for 12 months for security and service improvement
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information through your profile settings
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data via the in-app account deletion feature or by emailing support@emps.co.in
- Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Notification Opt-out: Disable push notifications through your device settings at any time
- Contact Sync Control: Enable or disable contact synchronisation in your device app permissions
- Subscription Cancellation: Cancel your subscription at any time through the app; access continues until the end of the billing period
- Marketing Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails via the unsubscribe link in any email we send
6. Third-Party Services
Stripe (Payment Processing)
We use Stripe, Inc. to process subscription payments. When you subscribe to a premium plan, your payment is handled directly by Stripe. Stripe may collect your name, email, card details, and billing address. Stripe's privacy policy is available at https://stripe.com/privacy. We receive only a Stripe Customer ID and transaction status — never your full card details.
Firebase / Google (Push Notifications & Analytics)
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) by Google to deliver push notifications. Firebase may collect device identifiers and usage analytics as described in Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Google Sign-In (Optional)
You may optionally sign in or pre-fill your registration using your Google account. If you do, Google shares your name and email with us. We do not receive your Google password. Google's privacy policy applies to this interaction.
7. Permissions Explained
Our Android app requests the following permissions:
- INTERNET: Required to connect to our servers and deliver all app features
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE / ACCESS_WIFI_STATE: To detect connectivity status and optimise data loading
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: To send you job alerts, application status updates, and platform notifications (you can deny or revoke this)
- VIBRATE: To vibrate on notification receipt (no data collected)
- READ_CONTACTS: Optional — only for professional networking and referral features; not requested unless you use those features
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Required only on Android 9 and below for file selection; not used on Android 10 and above
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC: Used to reliably upload large files (resumes, company licenses) in the background without interruption
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED / WAKE_LOCK: Used to reschedule pending notifications after device restart
You can manage all permissions through your device's Settings → Apps → Abroad Jobs → Permissions at any time.
8. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal information, including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
- Encrypted password storage (bcrypt hashing)
- Laravel Sanctum token-based authentication for API access
- Restricted admin access controls
- Regular security updates and assessments
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Data Transfers
Our servers are primarily based in India. As we provide international job placement services, some data may be processed by third-party services (Stripe, Firebase) operating in other countries. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers consistent with applicable law.
10. Children's Privacy
Our Service is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@emps.co.in and we will promptly remove it.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date, and for significant changes, by sending an in-app notification or email. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
12. Google Play Policy Compliance
Our app complies with Google Play's privacy and data handling requirements:
- READ_CONTACTS Permission: Used exclusively for optional professional networking and job referral features; declared with the prominent disclosure required by Play policy
- Photo / File Picker: We use the Android system document picker and photo picker — no broad media library access is required on Android 10 and above
- Foreground Service: Used solely for reliable file upload (resumes, company licenses); declared with FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC type
- Data Minimisation: We collect only the data necessary to operate the job portal and payment features
- Payment Transparency: Subscription pricing, billing cycle, and auto-renewal terms are clearly disclosed before purchase
- Account Deletion: Users can delete their account and all associated data from within the app or by contacting support@emps.co.in
